The Arts at Southeastern University
Southeastern University is a Christ-centered institution of higher learning in Lakeland, Florida, designed to equip the next generation to go into the world as influential servant leaders in their careers and their communities. Arts programming at Southeastern University amplifies this mission by valuing intellectual honesty, academic rigor, and creativity. This focus enables students to develop and refine their skills and discover how their creative and intellectual interests intersect with God’s divine plan for their life, underscoring our belief that we are all “Called to Create.” With premier classroom instruction, state-of-the-art facilities, and opportunities for relevant field experience, graduates of Southeastern University arts programs are well-positioned to produce excellence in their craft. Events are open to the public and feature a variety of art experiences for patrons and performers alike. The School of Music provides musical performances by the university Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Quintet, Contemporary Bands, Chamber Singers, Women’s Choir, and Concert Choir, as well as opportunities to enjoy a number of solo and small group music productions. The university’s visual arts gallery, located in the Buena Vida East building, hosts several art exhibits each academic year. Additionally, the Department of Communication offers improv and live-broadcast events each semester, while the Department of Humanities presents poetry readings and various colloquia related to history and other social science subjects.
